What a cute little place! It was Labor Day and I was craving brunch. Most places were closed, but Toasted Bun was open till 2pm. The restaurant is in downtown Auburn Hills and parking in the front and back. Two tables were outside and inside had a wall of booths then tables more so in the front. It was seat yourself (I didn't see a sign indicating this) but a waitress let us know shortly after we walked in. The decor inside is random and it was a bit dirty. But it was a holiday, so maybe that's why? The bathrooms are single stalls and there was a changing table in the women's bathroom. Bathroom as well was a bit dirty? Okay...getting to the good part! The food! Lots of breakfast options and lunch. Coffee was good. I got the banana waffle pancakes, bacon, and side of two eggs. My husband got one of the combo meals with bacon, eggs, French toast, hash browns, and toast. Pancakes were huge and thick! I got the half order (2 pancakes) and don't know how I could eat a full order (3 pancakes). Eggs were cooked perfectly and the pancakes/French toast was great, only bummer was the bacon. Bacon was soggy and room temperature at best. Our waitress was friendly and another waitress was going around filling up our coffees. So I appreciate the refills! Check you pay at the counter and was very reasonably priced. Quick and friendly service. I would definitely come back to try the lunch menu!

Good breakfasts are a bikers best friend. Toasted Bun is located in the quaint, expanding downtown Main Street section of Auburn Hills, a stone's throw away from the Clinton River Trail. And they have very good breakfast. My husband and I shared the banana nut pancakes and the chicken-spinach-artichoke omelettes. Both entrees were well prepared and flavorful. Our side of bacon was crispy and tater tots with the omelettes was just right. We were quickly seated on a Saturday morning. Our server was friendly and efficient. She was very busy with many tables and did a great job. Overall a very good breakfast with character.

Tried this spot for the first time for brunch on a Sunday morning. It's in a good location in downtown Auburn Hills and it's a no frills restaurant. It's perfect for what it offers and there were people waiting the entire time we were there. They also offer a few patio tables as well. I had the breakfast bowl which was basically every great breakfast food in a bowl with sausage gravy and a side of wheat toast. It was so filling and tasty though! Couldn't eat for another 9 hours after it. Also shared a half order (2) pancakes and of course they were good as hell too. One setback they don't offer Coke products only Pepsi. Not feeling that but hey I'm one person who cares what I like! Anyways give it a try when in Auburn Hills it's a good spot.

Place is pretty good. Has everything you could desire for breakfast and it was all good. Cool take on home fries they serve them with peppers and onions. Huge pops. Interesting artwork all around and friendly staff. The only negative part, the bathrooms need more cleaning.

Seat yourself, diner style restaurant. I came for breakfast and it was solid. One person liked the pancakes...the 3 year old did not (she eats anything). My farmers omelet was very good and filling as well as the homefries. My toast was dark as I requested. The bacon was thick cut and crisp. I couldnt believe it was less than $15 for me and the kid to eat. We were traveling and I wish they were open for dinner! I was full the rest of the day and the coffee was decent. Highly recommend if you are in the area. I can also vouch for the corned beef hash.

Typical hole in the wall breakfast place. Lunch is just as good. I've been back several times since my first visit and I am sure to visit again!

My mom and I stumbled on this place this morning after running a few errands. I've seen it from the road before, but never gave a thought to try it out. What a mistake! I was totally missing out! The place is a little family run restaurant, and it was so good. My mom and I had a blast, and the food was awesome. Prices are great, with plenty to choose from. Breakfast or lunch, this place is happenin! Don't make the mistake I did and drive by...stop in and eat! Service was great, the girls were all friendly and helpful. Coffee was always full, food was quick, and the portion sizes were big! We both walked out full. I went with the French toast with scrambled eggs, and my mom went with the potato pancakes which were on the daily special board. Both were great, and we tried each others food. I would go back to have the potato pancakes again, as the sizes were not only huge, but they were tasty and delicious as well. For the two of us, the bill was only $15.55. Not bad considering we got a ton of food and had a great time here. I think they open at 6 am, but close at 3, and 2pm on Sundays, so get there early. Totally worth the trip! Has a very "up north" feeling to it as well.

Very casual, but a great little breakfast place. Love the chicken dumpling soup and tater tots. Very nice, attentive staff, family owned.

This place is awesome for its food & the staff. I love coming here on weekend for breakfast. My 5 year old son enjoys the coloring activity & omelettes here. The staff is very welcoming. This is the best family breakfast place in Auburn hills

This is my local Auburn Hills, MI go-to breakfast spot. Everyone is super friendly and treats me like family. The food is about what you'd expect for such a great deal, but I go for the people, coffee and of course the tater tots and siracha.

Good little hole-in-the-wall diner serving breakfast till three o'clock in Auburn Hills, MI. the food was delicious, hearty, and reasonably priced. The coffee flowed freely, and the staff were incredibly friendly, saying hello and good day to everyone that walked in the door.

Great food and great prices. Very comfortable atmosphere. Spinach, Artichoke omelette was tasty. Home fries are a little salty, but they were made with fresh potatoes and peppers. My server Anesa was on top of her game.

I showed up for a meeting way too early, so whipped out my Yelp! and looked for a good breakfast spot. Toasted Bun popped up with 4.5 stars and was only a few miles away. Upon entering I could tell it was a simple diner type establishment and I could almost taste my eggs over easy. Whenever I eat at a place like this I want crispy hash browns and bacon with a cup of coffee that never seems to end. I was always ask the waitress to burn the hash browns and the crisper the better on the bacon and 8 out 10 times the hash browns come out barely cooked and the bacon soft. This wasn't any different unfortunately, but the price was good, the eggs were over easy the way I like them and the coffee was constantly flowing. To Recap: The Good: The service was fast and friendly, my coffee mug never got under a half-cup and the prices are very fair. Plenty of condiments at the table including two types of hot sauce, which was nice to see. The Bad: Why restaurants that offer and even tout their breakfast can't cook hash browns and bacon to order will go down as one of the great mysteries of my life, right up there with how Sharknado ever got made. The Band This Restaurant Most Resembles: Smallpools. They are good, but they always leave me wanting a little more.

Meh. Breakfast was ok. Solid food for a Coney Island type joint. They kept the coffee coming and the hash browns were crispy. Selection was typical breakfast fare. Wouldn't go out of my way but if you're in the area looking for a breakfast joint, it will do fine.

Typical diner experience- fast, friendly service and good prices. They have a nice menu selection but the food seems to be too greasy, especially the eggs. We've tried this place several times hoping the food would get better, but it hasn't.

Well, Rachel W, I can only tell you that it's your own fault! We go to the Toasted Bun just about every weekend for breakfast or lunch. They menu is great, the service is awesome, and the food is downhome cookin' good! The owners and cooks are always coming up with new and exciting menu ideas, like sweet potato pancakes! I've even been asked to bring in my favorite recipie for pumpkin squash soup! They will do what ever it takes to make the customers happy, and keep them coming back, even if they have to cook you another egg!

I went to The Toasted Bun on a Saturday morning, around 10:15. It was very crowded -- the line was out the door, and a party of 10 was in front of me and a party of 8 was behind me, so I waited quite a while for the little table by the open door, where there was quite a breeze and the cottonwood was occasionally flying in. Once I was seated, the servers were apologetic about the wait. I ordered the country omelet with home fries & rye toast. The omelet was ok -- not bad, but not outstanding. And I'm always surprised when restaurants use sausage links rather than ground sausage inside omelets, although the gravy may have had ground sausage. The rye toast was the kind with seeds -- not the Jewish rye that I'm used to, but it was fine. The home fries, however, were really good. There were big pieces of potato, along with some crunchy fried onions, a few slightly sauteed onions (although those might've been mixed in from something else) and green peppers. It was almost worth the wait for that. Notes: There is some parking in front, but there is a pretty good-sized parking lot in back. If you park in the back, you can walk through the restaurant to get to the line in the front. Their wi-fi does show up, but when I tried to use it, I couldn't connect to it. (Odd, because I was sitting right under the tv, where the cable boxes were hanging.

Very busy. Kinda messy. Kinda sloppy... But decent tasting food. Service was a bit haphazard and staffed seemed overwhelmed... Decent... But certainly nothing to write home about. Not sure I'd go back. Maybe they're better when they're slow?? I mean there must be something to this place given how many people were there when I came in... ADDITION: Credit card machine failed forcing me to go next door and PAY to get cash out of ATM... Ugh!

Got into town around lunch time and it was too early to check into the hotel and hungry stomachs means I had to head to yelp for assistance. This place was nearby and had good ratings so we decided toasted bun was the winner. So glad we stopped in. The place was brightly painted and the staff was nice. As soon as we were seated we were promptly asked what we wanted to drink. I went with chicken, artichoke, spinach sandwich. It was deeeeeelicious!! I ate all of it and i don't think it was because I skipped breakfast. The bread was even seasoned. So glad I went with that option. I also obviously had to go with the tots. Anyplace that has tots on the menu is always a winner in my book. The boy went with the meat lovers. He enjoyed it, but only ended up eating half. The homemade chips that came with it seemed slightly overdone. If I'm ever in the area again I'll stop in.

Wow. What a fabulous restaurant. Bigger inside than it looks from outside, didn't have to wait to sit down on a Sunday morning at 10. Feta and spinach omelette with home fries was outstanding. Very reasonably priced and it looked as good as it tasted. Beautiful presentation made this really a fun place to eat breakfast.

This breakfast was great! The portions are very generous and all of the food was very fresh. Unlike typical diners the breakfast food here was not at all greasy. I liked the option of pancakes instead of potatoes with the eggs!

The Toasted Bun almost seems to have sprung out of an episode of "The Andy Griffith Show." It's a simple room in the middle of town with a folksy, relaxed, non-business vibe. The waitstaff and counter people were, well, Mayberry nice. So was the food. I got a loaded veggie burger, fries and a large iced tea for a very decent price. The burger was nicely done with grilled onions and mushrooms on a classic white bun. The fries were perfect diner chic - crisp outside without being dry, soft inside without being soggy. While The Toasted Bun doesn't have a ton of veg-friendly options, they have enough to keep me interested. I saw a Greek salad, grilled cheese sandwich and cheese quesadilla. However, there are some other dishes that I'll bet that they would be willing to make veggie (I'll try them the next time): a couple of spinach salads (hold the meat); a chicken, spinach and artichoke ciabatta (hold the chicken) and a southwest quesadilla. In addition (I can't believe that I forgot), they have an extensive breakfast menu (Toasted Bun is a breakfast and lunch only place that closes in mid-afternoon). The good food aside, the people and atmosphere here are so great that I'm fine with the choices I have. It's a great place to break up your day.

I never thought I'd head toward this section of Rochester again. I attempted to have lunch at the bar across the street, which was one of my most un-favorite place but Yelp said this place is good and Yelp knows. Very local feel "Sit Anywhere" came from the kitchen. The server was sitting with a regular chatting but as soon as I grabbed a seat she came right over. I then became the chatterbox - asking all kinds of questions and she happily ran me through the place's history and menu. I ordered the 3.79 special - eggs, 2 or 3 meats, sour dough toast and hash browns. There are several types of bread and three types of potatoes to choose from. Meal was really good. Eggs a bit overcooked but just my preference - I'll know for next time. The waitress then starting talking about Yelp, and the conversation went on for a few minutes. Good Stuff and great prices!

This place was ok. It's a total college town type breakfast spot. Not fancy at all, random colors everywhere and lacks decor. Food, looks good but what I got wasn't anything I would crave again. Pancakes were straight up horrible... I eat pancakes everywhere and I couldn't even finish these. The breakfast bowls seem great, someone with us bought one. The staff was very careless and didn't pay much attention to us. The thing that grossed me out is the piece of paper the lady took our order with was tossed on our food under the heater. Why is that nasty piece of paper on my food? The employees took dirty dishes, didn't wash their hands and then grabbed our food to serve us. Maybe this is why I am not too pleased with this spot.

This place is nice. I've been here twice now, everyone is really attentive and nice. I have nothing bad to say about it. It won't be my go to place since They don't have much of a selection when it comes to pancakes and waffles or any other sweet food (I have a sweet tooth!)

I used to come here all the time when I worked Downtown. I don't love far so I need to make a visit sometime soon. Everything is fresh and made to order and everything tastes great!!! Their only open until a little after lunch though. That's the only downside.

I'm deciding between a one star and a two star, but I decided to be generous and give them a two-star because the people are nice. Pretty standard diner food, but the dishes we got were not done well. I got a country-fried steak, and it seemed very frozen food-esque, not fried and seasoned with love like the ones I am used to in the South. The potato hash was decent and I liked the addition of lots of vegetables. I left my bread untouched, so the portions are nice and big. We also got an omelette filled with ham, bacon, and onions. The omelette could not be considered and omelette based on how it was constructed; it would be closer to a scramble. In addition, the onions inside were undercooked. It was basically like chomping down on raw onions, and the onions were not chopped small. We couldn't finish the omelette no matter how hard we tried. There are better diners out there.

What a cool little dive in downtown AH. Hubby and I took new jobs that brought us up to the area. Last Friday, on a whim we decided to run out and grab a bite for lunch. It was only about a 5 minute drive from work. We arrived, were immediately seated, orders taken. Very prompt, very friendly. I ordered the turkey reuben (it had a special name- $6.99) and hubby ordered two coneys with fries ($6.something). Delicious, quick and decently priced. Definitely will return!

The food was OK. Just OK. The restaurant itself was dirty. My boyfriend was served orange juice with something floating in it. Perhaps the setting is intended to lower the customers expectations so that they will be pleasantly impressed with mediocre food. Ultimately, I would describe it as the kind of food an alcoholic mother would serve.

Consistent straight up excellent breakfast. Bacon sausage hash browns all awesome. Omelettes are excellent. Sandwiches soup and daily specials are amazing. This is good old fashioned classic American food done right. Staff is awesome as well absolutely love this place.

Stopped in before I volunteered for Summerfest. Breakfast is good any time of day so it was a no brainer. The staff was extremely nice. Despite the rainy weather everyone was in high spirits. A lot of options on the menu, so it was hard for me to narrow it down. I decided on the "Big Ron" which comes with 3 eggs, 3 meat, toast, potatoes and your choice of French toast or pancakes. Very hearty meal for a under $8!

We used to LOVE this place, we even moved in across the street and got breakfast here every Saturday morning. It USED to be great food, portions and price....however over the past 3 months the restaurants quality and quantity has taken a drastic down turn. I am sad to say this place is now on our never list :( We tried it a few different times after we noticed the down slide, thinking maybe it was just an off day for them but that is not the case. When you order tater tots they basically give you 7, when you order a chicken pita it's not even cut up and warm, the eggs are not as good as they used to be and the prices have gone up while the quality has gone way way down. This used to be our favorite breakfast spot and now it is just a sore reminder of what it once was. We are very disappointed in the down turn of this once fantastic diner.
